Dr Maria Metafa is a Researcher at the Institute of Technology of Agricultural Products of ELGO-DIMITRA, with expertise in Wine Chemistry. Her research focuses on the chemical and aromatic composition of grapes, musts, wines and other grape and wine products, with particular emphasis on the development and application of modern analytical approaches, mainly GC–MS, for the determination of volatile and aroma compounds. Her research interests also include phenolic compounds, amino acids, biogenic amines, and constituents related to wine quality and safety. She has participated in national and European research projects, with responsibilities in scientific coordination, analytical work packages and research proposal development. She is also involved in the scientific and laboratory supervision of postgraduate students and early-career researchers and participates in national and international scientific networks and committees in oenology and analytical chemistry.
